LET US LEARN THE CORRECT USAGE OF CAPITALIZATION

In English grammar, capitalization means using of capital letters in the sentences. The main function of capitalization is to emphasise upon particular elements within a group of places, things or persons. We can speak of a dam in India but we become more specific when we say Bhakra Dam in Himachal Pradesh. We usually capitalize the proper nouns and the first word of every sentence but the rules of capitalization even go beyond them. There are a host of rules of capitalization in English grammar.

  • Capitalize the first word of a sentence.
    They took the examination and passed with high percent of marks.
    He wants to start his own business. But he is confused. How? Where? When?

  • Capitalize the first word of a quotation.
